Major projects such as the construction of the new Carolabrücke in Dresden require more than just architectural vision and engineering expertise—above all, they require public acceptance. Together with Ingenieurbüro GRASSL GmbH, we designed the visual elements for the first public dialogue in Dresden.
Learn how we translated complex planning concepts into tangible visions to foster dialogue between experts and citizens.
The collapse of the Carolabrücke in September 2024 marked a turning point for Dresden’s infrastructure. This makes the process of rebuilding it all the more crucial today. As general planner, GRASSL Ingenieure GmbH is leading a top-tier team comprising gmp Architekten, Jordi Keller Pellnitz, and Vössing Ingenieure to shape the future of this vital transportation artery.
A project of this magnitude requires complete transparency. The first public dialogue in Dresden was aimed at opening up the design process and actively involving citizens. Our task as an agency was to present the highly complex technical and urban planning concepts in a way that made them not only understandable to the public but also tangible.
To make the on-site exchange as interactive and informative as possible, we have developed a comprehensive suite of communication tools:
In the public sector, design serves as the link between experts and citizens. When technical complexity is translated into visual clarity, it fosters the trust necessary for the success of an infrastructure project.
We are proud to be part of this historically and urbanistically significant project. It demonstrates once again: Good design shapes the dialogue.
